Diaghilev's Ballets Russes 1909-1929

Mathilde Kschessinskaya

While she did not dance with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, she was asked to but she felt that the dances given to Anna Pavlova would upstage hers. So she called in a favor and did her own show in Paris about a month before Diaghilev's 1909 Paris introduction. She was quite clever!
