About Me
Currently consultant and formerly Director of the Merce Cunningham Studio, I also served as a consultant for the Joffrey Ballet School . I taught dance history for students in the Joffrey/New School BFA Program and later at the New School dance program at Lang College. Previously I taught dance at Hunter High School, Vassar College, New York University, and the Martha Graham School. Trained professionally in ballet and modern dance, I earned a Ph.D. in dance from New York University in 1981 in the Department of Dance and Dance Eduction.
My monograph, The Technique of Martha Graham, was published by the Morgan Press in 1994. I edited an issue devoted to Martha Graham for the Harwood publication, Choreography and Dance, (1999). (Now out of print) I also write criticism for Ballet Review.
